Nightly elective
Monotype
Printmaking
Unleash your inner artist during a fun, low-pressure evening at Waldo’s & Company discovering the magic of monotype printmaking, the most painterly and immediate of all graphic art forms. In this beginner-friendly workshop, you will learn several monotype printmaking methods in a round robin style class setting. From fast and messy acrylic prints, to longer form oil and rubber based prints. Because each composition yields exactly one vibrant impression on paper, you will explore the true nature of unique printmaking alongside techniques like pulling "ghost prints"—a second, fainter image from the leftover ink that creates beautiful, layered backgrounds. After step-by-step demonstrations on how to set up your plates, you will dive straight into printing using techniques ranging from wooden spoons to the Waldo’s etching press. All high-quality supplies, papers, and aprons are fully included in your fee. This add-on elective will expose you to the rush of a printmaking method that can surprise you with its versatility and textures.
NOTE: Electives are available only for participants currently enrolled in one of the main workshops. The cost for the Monotype class is $150. You can purchase all electives offered as a cost saving bundle for $500. Participants will be given instructions on how to purchase after reserving their spot with a full payment to a main workshop.
